This is the first game from legendary series Quest for Glory designed by the husband and wife team of Lori and Corey Cole. This game was produced by Sierra On-line.
Quest for Glory (QFG) was first released in 1989 as Hero’s Quest in EGA graphics, but the game was soon re-leased as Quest for Glory-So You Want To Be a Hero because Sierra failed to trademark the name. From now, the game is known as Quest for Glory so as not to be confused with another game.In 1992 when Quest for Glory 3 was released, appeared another (3rd) version of first QFG and it adds wonderfull VGA graphics, so we could say that this remake looked much better than QFG 3.

The story begins at the town Spielburg in unknown country, but this fabulous land is isolated from the rest of the world by snow disaster soon after your arrival.During little adventure you will discover why is this place so sad and empty.
Couple years ago, evil sorceress Baba-Yaga had arrived at the valley. The local baron tried to rid her but he failed and his army was cursed, Baba-Yaga kiddnaped baron‘s beloved daughter and his son dissapear during hunt. But the situation is much more complicated in this land, because local woods are under control of various unkind monsters. So, this is your chance to prove that you are real hero, bring baron’s children back, make the land happy again and then, after you make it, your journey could continue in sequel.

Story and the game itself is great mixture of role-playing and adventure game. You have to improve your skills to be succesfull, you have to rest and also you have to eat, yes, it is really necessary. It is quite simple to die in these games. You could use cheats in original EGA version, so you could be really super hero, but then isn’t the game many interesting.
